Playground works - Phase 1 complete, Phase 2 coming up
The Parish Council is happy to report that the old swings and 2 of the springers have been replaced. We are particularly pleased with the Ladybird springer which allows two children to play together and enjoy the outdoors - the previous equipment were both single use designs. Following installation we carried out a brief inspection and noted that the rubber matting beneath the swings is uneven and could present a tipping hazard. We also observed that the newly grassed areas are poor quality. The Parish Council has arranged a meeting with the supplier in the first week of May to discuss these findings and find a suitable solution. We will keep residents updated on progress. Thank you for your patience and for supporting our efforts to keep the play area safe and enjoyable for the local children.
In Phase 2 of the play area refurbishment there will be a new playframe installed in the area between the Junior Tower and the Clubhouse. The circular wooden climbing unit, a dynamic series of interconnected climbing challenges designed to spark imagination, teamwork and active fun. Each section encourages children to test their skills, navigate exciting routes and explore in a safe and engaging way - according to the supplier.
The seesaw will also be replaced and both of these new units will have an artificial grass surfacing which is an all weather playturf. This solution will have sufficient groundworks - excavation first, then stone base compacted down which will give a flat, even base for a special ‘dynamic play basework’ and the artificial grass itself.
The PC is hoping to complete Phase 2 just in time for the next RoSPA (The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents) inspection, which is an annual check up dedicated to reduce and prevent injuries and accidents on the playground.
The Parish Council is committed to improve the pay area and will focus on other areas of the MUGA next year.
